What Makes Us Special

Caregiver

Visiting Nurse Health System is a non-profit healthcare organization that has served the greater Atlanta and surrounding areas for 75 years. Visiting Nurse Health System offers  a full continuum of care to including home healthcare, community health, palliative care, and hospice care.

We are the Private Home Care arm of the continuum.  We have been working alongside them in this capacity since 2018 and can serve most healthcare needs right in the home together.

Blood pressure monitor

In a pandemic/post-pandemic world we have seen this as a working solution that keeps our senior communities aware of their health via preventative care. Remote Patient Monitoring gives us the ability to independently manage chronic conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular illnesses, depression, post-covid syndromes, obesity and more from home. Vital readings are immediately sent to our Nursing Unit and we alert the patient/their family of any abnormalities detected. This is detrimental to help understand if a medication was missed or get to the cause of the problem preventatively, rather than react to an unfavorable situation. We can produce reports of a patient's performance for any duration of time, so they can take to their treating Physician and help them adjust medications or resolve health problems.

Holding Hands

Your home. Your terms. We can help.

Skilled nursing refers to the specialized care provided by licensed healthcare professionals, such as registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs). These professionals have received extensive training and education in medical procedures, medication administration, wound care, and other advanced nursing skills. Skilled nursing is typically provided in a clinical setting, such as a hospital or a skilled nursing facility.

On the other hand, non-skilled nursing refers to the assistance provided by caregivers who do not have formal medical training. Non-skilled caregivers may assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and light housekeeping. They may also provide companionship and emotional support to individuals who require assistance with daily tasks but do not have complex medical needs.

Through our dear Human Resource Director, Sylvia Nimako, we learned that many of our caregivers need personal attention and care as well as our clients. Many of our caregivers drive over an hour to work to care in the most personal way for another human and return after such emotional and physical work to their own families where care is also needed. Many of our caregivers are single parents or grandparents who are struggling to acquire life's basic comforts. Some need the deposits to get out of a temporary

housing situation. Others are seeking furniture or household items that can help contribute to the feeling of home. We started a foundation, Sylvia's Attic, with the simple mission to provide care for the professional caregiver. Through kind and generous donations, Sylvia's Attic has provided furniture, kitchen appliances, washers and dryers, beds and bedding, and holiday gifts to dozens of caregivers. We have even been able to help provide security deposits for last month rents as well as car maintenance.

It is our goal to care for every professional caregiver in need so that she may provide focused and loving attention to our vulnerable clients and families who are counting on her to be present and engaged. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
